Andasibe-Mantadia National Park is located in the eastern part of Madagascar, approximately 130 km east of the capital, Antananarivo.
The Analamazaotra Reserve in Andasibe and Mantadia differ in size, terrain, and somewhat in climate.
Mantadia, situated about 20 km north of Andasibe, is the larger of the areas within the national park and is positioned at a slightly higher altitude than Andasibe. As a result, Mantadia tends to have a slightly more humid climate as moist tropical air masses turn to mist and rain in the cooler heights.
Since Mantadia is more mountainous, the trails in this part of the national park can also be a bit more rugged than those in Analamazaotra Reserve. Due to the more challenging terrain in Mantadia, fewer travellers visit this area.
However, both the Analamazaotra Reserve and Mantadia are rich in biodiversity. You will have the chance to encounter many wonderful animal and plant species, regardless of which area you visit.
