Visit Victoria Falls (Zimbabwean side) from Chobe National Park
A mere two-hour drive from Chobe National Park – right on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe – are the mighty Victoria Falls. On this tour, you are first picked up at your hotel and driven 20 km to the Zimbabwean border. First you leave Botswana, and then you head into Zimbabwe. The border crossing alone is an exciting experience.
From the border, the tour continues through Zimbabwe towards the waterfalls. Here, you drive into the national park itself, so you had better have your camera ready. Elephants often stand at the side of the road, rubbing up against the trees.
At the waterfalls, there is plenty of time to go around and get your best pictures of these enormous bodies of water, and the guide will tell you about how these immense cliffs were formed, and how the really actually got their name. You also visit a 1500-year-old Baobab tree. This may be your last chance – some of the largest baobab trees in Africa are – for reasons still unknown – starting to die off….
You have lunch at Victoria Falls (not included in the price) and visit a local market before the tour returns to Botswana once again. If you are interested, there is a chance to purchase a helicopter tour over the waterfalls – this must be purchased from home.
Note that a visa is required to enter Zimbabwe. This can be purchased at the border, and costs $50 – 60.
